    UAE and Egypt reaffirm ties as leaders meet in Abu Dhabi

    ABU DHABI, Feb. 9, 2026: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi, marking the start of a fraternal visit between the two countries, according to official information released in the UAE capital. President El-Sisi arrived at the Presidential Flight terminal in Abu Dhabi, where Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed him in line with state protocol for visiting heads of state. The reception formed part of the official arrangements accompanying the visit and reflected the regularity of high-level exchanges between the leaderships of the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

    Also present to receive the Egyptian president were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, adviser to the UAE president. A number of ministers and senior state officials attended the reception, underscoring the official nature of the visit. The United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt maintain long-standing diplomatic relations encompassing political, economic, and development cooperation. Bilateral ties have been reinforced through frequent leadership-level visits and sustained engagement between government institutions in both countries, conducted through established diplomatic channels and formal agreements.

    Economic cooperation remains a central component of relations between Abu Dhabi and Cairo. The UAE is among the largest foreign investors in Egypt, with Emirati investments spanning sectors including energy, infrastructure, real estate, ports and logistics, agriculture, and food security. Emirati companies operate across multiple Egyptian markets, while bilateral trade between the two countries has recorded steady growth in recent years, supported by investment frameworks and trade facilitation mechanisms. Political coordination between the two governments has remained consistent. The UAE and Egypt maintain dialogue on regional and international developments through bilateral consultations and participation in Arab, regional, and global forums.

    Economic cooperation anchors bilateral relations

    This engagement is conducted within formal diplomatic structures and reflects ongoing coordination on issues affecting the Middle East and North Africa. High-level visits between the two countries typically include meetings between leaders and senior officials, as well as engagements involving relevant ministries and institutions. Such visits form part of routine diplomatic interaction and are aimed at maintaining communication at the highest levels of government and reviewing existing cooperation frameworks. The welcoming of President El-Sisi by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed upon arrival reflected the protocol accorded to visiting heads of state.
