Air Arabia plans to begin nonstop flights connecting Sharjah and Gdansk on Dec. 14, 2026. This new route will link Sharjah International Airport with Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport five times weekly. Flights are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Customers can already book tickets via the airline’s sales platforms.
Etihad’s Abu Dhabi-Gothenburg service will operate four times weekly this winter. This route marks Gothenburg’s first direct air link with the United Arab Emirates. It also creates the city’s first nonstop connection to the Middle East and Asia. Travelers from western Sweden can connect through Abu Dhabi to destinations across India and Asia. The new service offers direct access to Abu Dhabi for passengers departing from the Gothenburg region. Gothenburg’s airport, Göteborg Landvetter Airport, serves the city and the larger western Sweden area. Etihad Airways will operate the route using an Airbus A321LR configured for 160 passengers. The aircraft has two First Suites, 14 Business seats and 144 Economy seats. Both First and Business class seats convert into fully flat beds and offer direct aisle access. Economy seats come with 13.3-inch 4K touchscreen entertainment systems. The aircraft provides high-speed Wi-Fi in all three cabins. The A321LR is a long-range narrow-body aircraft added to the airline’s fleet. New Route Broadens One-Stop Travel Options Across Asia The Gothenburg schedule connects with several onward flights via Abu Dhabi. These include destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Singapore, Hanoi, Bali, Shanghai, Taipei, Bengaluru and Colombo. The airline plans to land the Gothenburg flight in Abu Dhabi in the evening. South Korea reported a tourism surplus of $596.6 million in June 2026, the highest monthly figure since the COVID-19 pandemic began. This result is $1.44 billion better than June 2025, when the country faced an $846.8 million deficit. According to data from the Korea Tourism Organization, June’s surplus was the second-largest ever recorded. The only month with a higher surplus was October 2008, at $661.5 million.
Italy by air and sea will undergo document verification at Spanish airports until Sept. 7. The checks follow Italy’s own restrictions on arrivals from Spain, prompted by a surge of migrants into Ceuta. While the controls are in place, travel between the two countries continues, affecting non-EU nationals. Spain had urged Italy to lift its measures before implementing its own, labeling them as discriminatory. Dubai-based carrier flydubai announced a major expansion of its European flight network on Wednesday, increasing service frequencies to key Italian gateways to capture rising international travel demand. According to statements published by Emirates News Agency, flydubai strengthens operations in Italy with additional flight frequencies to Milan-Bergamo and Naples, deepening direct transport links between the United Arab Emirates and Southern Europe. Starting July 31, 2026, the airline will operate a double-daily service between Dubai International Airport and Milan-Bergamo Airport, while simultaneously expanding its flight schedule to Naples International Airport to a daily frequency.
Emirates, the flagship airline, introduced a cryptocurrency checkout feature on Tuesday. This allows eligible passengers to book flights using digital assets through its website and mobile app. Emirates News Agency confirmed that Emirates and Crypto.com have partnered to offer a new payment method for flights. The agreement was initially signed in July 2025. The digital asset payment system is available to residents of the United Arab Emirates for both international and domestic flights paid for and settled in Emirati Dirhams (AED). Payments are processed via Crypto.com’s checkout portal, giving travelers instant access to their digital wallet balances during ticket purchases.
Designed by the late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry, the 80,000-square-metre facility is situated in the Saadiyat Cultural District. The Republic of Korea welcomed nearly 2 million international travelers in June, bringing the total foreign visitors for the first six months of the year past an important milestone.
