EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have launched a five-year agreement to supply wheat valued at up to US$500 million. This deal translates a 2023 financing plan into a practical import arrangement for Egypt. Al Dahra will supply imported wheat to GASC, financed by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The agreement formalizes the purchasing process within that existing framework.
The signing took place at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026. Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also leads GASC, was present. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, also attended. The statement did not specify the wheat volumes, shipment schedules, origins, or pricing details for the purchases made under this agreement.
This financing structure was set up in August 2023 when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving import program. The program was allocated US$100 million, with renewals each year for five years and a total cap of US$500 million. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance joined GASC in that initial plan. The 2026 agreement now provides the operational framework for GASC’s wheat purchases from Al Dahra within that program.
2023 Financing Plan Enters Implementation
ADEX, the export-financing division of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offers funding linked to Emirati exports. In 2023, it stated that its Egypt facility would cover wheat and other essential goods supplied by Al Dahra. The five-year structure was designed for these transactions with GASC. The current agreement maintains that framework, setting the operational terms for imported wheat from Al Dahra.
Al Dahra has been active in Egypt since 2007, operating in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported farming approximately 28,000 hectares in Egypt. Over the past three years, it supplied more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the government. This week, Al Dahra announced that its broader agricultural network now reaches more than 40 markets worldwide.
Al Dahra’s Egypt Presence Dates Back to 2007
The agreement made in August 2026 focuses on imported wheat. However, Al Dahra also produces agricultural products within Egypt. In 2023, it identified itself as Egypt’s largest private wheat and corn producer. About 85% of its local output was sold domestically. The new deal pertains to imported wheat supplied to GASC via the ADEX program, not a separate US$500 million financing initiative.
This five-year agreement implements the financing plan announced three years earlier. It does not involve creating a second US$500 million fund. Neither Al Dahra nor GASC has disclosed the total wheat tonnage covered, shipment schedules, origin breakdowns, or pricing formulas. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the arrangement remains a five-year wheat supply program worth up to US$500 million through ADEX financing.
